November 2017 Graduate Student Research Highlight: Nita G. Chavez Soria

Graduate student: Nita G. Chavez Soria, 4th-year Ph.D. student in Prof. Aga and Prof. Atilla groups

Notable recent achievements:

A recent first author publication in Environmental Science: Nano entitled “Mass spectrometry-based metabolomics to assess uptake of silver nanoparticles by Arabidopsis thaliana”.  (link)

Research highlight:

My research interest is on the impact of nanoparticles on plant systems and cell lines. I look for metabolomic changes in these systems using liquid chromatography with quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry.

I enjoy the collaborative research opportunities and instrumentation available at UB.

Outside of the laboratory I enjoy spending time with my friends, trying new restaurants, traveling, and music.

Congratulations, Nita!
